- HAWAII VISITORS AND CONVENTION BUREAU NAMES TOM MULLEN SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

The Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau (HVCB) is pleased to announce Tom Mullen has joined the organization in the newly created position of senior vice president and chief operating officer. He began work on Sept. 1, replacing Wayne Arita, HVCB’s chief financial officer, who retired in September.

The Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau (HVCB) welcomes hospitality sales and marketing veteran Mary Neister to its team as vice president of Meet Hawaii. In this position, she will have the responsibility of leading HVCB’s sales efforts for meetings, conventions and incentives (MCI), and work in partnership with the Hawaii Convention Center team to grow the meetings market for the Hawaiian Islands.

An $18 million dollar renovation of the beachfront Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa on Oahu is currently underway. Upon completion of renovations in October 2015, guests will notice a dynamic redesign of the resort’s porte cochere, main lobby and front desk area. In addition, the grand Kona Moku Ballroom’s new design concept will include new wall covering, lighting, carpeting, doors, wood paneling, painting and new signage.

Reopening in 2016, the Aston Aloha Beach Hotel will be rebranded as Hilton Garden Inn Kauai/Wailua Bay. In addition to gaining a new name, the property will undergo a renovation to include the complete refurbishment of all rooms, its lobby and meeting spaces, and exteriors. Once completed, the renovated property will be the only Hilton branded hotel on Kauai and the second Hilton Garden Inn in Hawaii.
- HAWAII HONORED WITH TRAVELAGE WEST WAVE AWARDS

The Hawaiian Islands received top honors at the TravelAge West WAVE (Western Agents’ Votes of Excellence) Awards for “Destination with the Highest Client Satisfaction, USA” and “Tourism Board Providing the Best Travel Agent Support.” The Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau (HVCB) accepted the awards on June 11 in Marina Del Rey, Calif.
