Pool-adise

June 9, 2010

Some of my best memories as a kid were the summers when I would spend hours on end playing with my cousins at my Uncle Kelvin’s pool. We would eat otter pops and swim till we were shivering and pruned. It was the BEST.

So I was excited when I was invited this past weekend to swim at Sheraton Waikiki’s new infinity edge pool. It’s pretty much the same as my Uncle’s pool; that is if my Uncle’s pool received a $6 million upgrade, and was moved from Aiea and perched mere feet above the most iconic beach in the world. Did I mention that you can drink cocktails in the pool?  Aside from using the bathroom, there’s pretty much no good reason to ever leave the pool…so we didn’t.

My friends and I camped out at a corner near the pool's signature bar, Edge of Waikiki. After the first sip of our tropical drinks, we unanimously decided that it was the best day ever... and it kept getting better. Our euphoria must have been contagious, because by dusk (yes, we stayed in the pool till dusk), we were clinking mai tais with pretty much everyone in pool-adise.

For years, Sheraton Waikiki has boasted having the best view of Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head from 30 floors up at Twist at Hanohano, but I think the view from 30 floors down is just as amazing.

Best Day Ever.
