The small island of Lanai is so close to other Hawaiian Islands, it can be seen from the shores of Oahu and Maui. It is easy to travel to Lanai, making it a good choice for a destination trip or fun day trip from neighbor islands.

Direct flights from Oahu (HNL) to Lanai (LNY) are 30 minutes. Ohana by Hawaiian is a turboprop operation from Hawaiian Airlines specifically designed for flying between Hawaiian Islands. Ohana offers 2 direct flights from Oahu during the week, with more added on Saturdays and Sundays to accommodate weekend travelers.
Another airline, Island Air, offers twice-daily non-direct flights from Oahu.
Non-stop flights from Maui (OGG) to Lanai (LNY) are a quick 20 minutes. Island Air offers direct flights twice daily with their twin engine turboprop fleet.
Ohana by Hawaiian offers non-direct flights from Maui to Lanai, connecting through Oahu.
Several companies offer private flights to Lanai from anywhere in the Hawaiian Islands.
There are 2 options for car service from Lanai’s airport into Lanai City. Rabaca’s Limousine & Island Tours offers taxi service in a SUV from the airport to Dollar Rent-a-Car or any other location in town for $10 per person each way. They also offer full taxi service island wide as well as guided tours of popular sites. Private custom charters are available, too. Contact 808-559-0230 for reservations.
You must reserve your car in advance. Upon arriving at the airport, you’ll find the taxi vehicles waiting in a separate area on the side of the building. It is advised to call the taxi company immediately prior to your flight to confirm your arrival.
Renting a Jeep is highly recommended if you plan on exploring the island on your own, and Dollar Rent-a-Car provides suggested routes that take advantage of the Jeep’s 4×4 capabilities. To reserve a jeep, contact 800-JEEP808 or local 808-565-7227 ext 1 or visit DollarLanai.com.
Whether you are seeking a day trip, or week-long getaway, Lanai offers a fun filled adventure.
