Molokai’s Events in 2013
Molokai has an exciting year of special events in 2013!
Makahiki starts off the year’s festivities January 24 – 26 at the Mitchell Pauole Center. February brings the Keiki Expo on February 8 at the Mitchell Pauole Center followed by the 3rd Annual “Soup ‘R Bowl” Fundraiser on March 16 at the Molokai Arts Center, Coffees of Hawaii.
The Nature Conservancy Earth Day is on April 19 at the Mitchell Pauole Center from 5:00 – 9:30pm and May 2 – 4 is the 22nd Annual Ka Hula Piko at the Ho’olaule’a Lanikeha Rec Center.
Summertime on Molokai brings annual events such as the Bon Dance at the Soto Mission on July 27 with live music and dancing. The Molokai Oahu Paddle Board Race takes place on July 28 at Kepuhi Beach where an international field of more than 200 paddlers take on the 32-mile course across the Kaiwi Channel. August 24 is the Bow Hunter Archery Club 12th Annual Nationally Sanctioned Event.
September has two exciting events with the Pailolo Challenge on September 14 which starts at D.T. Fleming Beach Park on Maui and ends in Kaunakakai, Molokai (26 miles). The Na Wahine O Kekai is on September 22 from Hale O Lono Molokai to Oahu. This women’s 41-mile outrigger canoe paddling competition departs Molokai and crosses the Kaiwi Channel as paddlers head to the shores fronting the Hilton Hawaiian Village, Fort DeRussy Beach Park, on the island of 0′ahu.
The Festivals of Aloha Parade is on October 5 in Kaunakakai, followed by the Molokai Hoe on October 6. This men’s 41-mile outrigger canoe paddling competition departs Molokai Hale O Lono Harbor and crosses the Kaiwi Channel as paddlers head to the shores fronting the Hilton Hawaiian Village, Fort DeRussy Beach Park, on the island of 0′ahu.
November has the Annual Molokai Food and Business Expo on November 2 and the 6th Annual Molokai Stampede on November 8 & 9 at Kapualei Ranch. Molokai’s 2013 activities wrap up with the Annual Christmas Light Parade and Ho’olaule’a on December 7 in Kaunakakai.
