News from Maui Nui

Iao NeedleNamed "Best Island" year after year by national travel publications, Maui, and her sister islands Molokai and Lanai, continue to offer memorable experiences for first-time visitors and seasoned travelers alike.

World-class resorts, award winning cuisine, championship golf, stunning natural beauty and the islands' host Hawaiian culture have propelled Maui Nui into the limelight. Here are just a few reasons why "The Magic Isles" are among the most desirable destinations in the world.

The Perfect Pairing
Destination Resorts Hawaii has the perfect pairing this fall, offering two free compact cars with every two-bedroom suite booked at any of their five beachfront resorts. Two couples can share a two-bedroom suite and get separate cars so when the guys want to golf and the gals want to spa, everyone can do Maui their way. Or instead of two free compact cars, guests can select one larger vehicle, including a mini-van, SUV, jeep, convertible or luxury sedan. Pair what works for you. Offer valid until 12/21/11. For more information, call 1-866-384-1366 or visit
The Whaler on Kaanapali Beach
Soon the familiar blue, white and silver of The Whaler on Kaanapali Beach will be just a memory. The walls, railings and lanai of the two classic twelve-story towers, one of the first resorts on Kaanapali Beach, will be bathed in contemporary earth tones, including new tile on each lanai. This final phase of a $10-million dollar renovation was preceded by major pool, courtyard and garden planting initiatives. Special low rates, celebrating the completion of the renovation, will be available for November and December 2011.
Fairmont GardensFairmont Kea Lani beautifies bamboo garden
The Fairmont Kea Lani has recently enhanced the resort's bamboo garden. Nestled within the breathtaking lobby and surrounded by sweeping white archways, it's a peaceful haven where visitors enjoy a break from their day. The garden includes four unique types of bamboo, various flowers such as orchids, anthuriums, and Guzmania bromeliads, and various ferns. Further perpetuating Fairmont's commitment to sustainability, the decorative driftwood has been gathered from various beaches across the island and the volcanic rock walls have been created with locally-gathered lava rock. The bamboo garden is free and open to the public to enjoy.
Aston at Papakea Resort
"Check in and stay in" is the advice from Aston at Papakea Resort, the perfect Hawaiian playground for children and adults. On Sunday, pick up a putter and nudge the ball to a hole-in-one. Tuesday tennis matches are a casual Hawaiian version of Wimbledon. On Wednesday, find out that Yogilates is pool fun, not a breakfast drink. On Thursday have breakfast at the Beach Club, next door. Then Friday it's off to Swimmercize, saving Saturday for a sunset drink and barbecue or plan a poolside cabana party.
Home Made on Maui
Destination Resorts Hawaii has partnered with Foodland, Hawaii's largest grocery chain, to provide guests with Maikai key tags that can be used for savings on grocery purchases. At Foodland, visitors can sample local offerings such as ahi poke or spam musubi. With a premium selection of suites and villas with fully equipped kitchens, guests can stock up on steaks for the grill, ice cream for the freezer or meats and cheese from the deli for a home-made vacation on Maui.
