AIRLIFT
Alaska Airlines’ new seasonal service from Anchorage, Alaska to Kona starts on November 10, 2012. The nonstop, once-a-week flight will run through April 7, 2013. The airline also operates a daily flight from Seattle, Washington, Oakland and San Jose, California, and seasonal service from Portland, Oregon, into Kona. The picturesque town of Waimea and the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai on the Kohala Coast will provide the perfect backdrop for the 2013 Waimea Ocean Film Festival taking place from January 3-6 and 8-11. Imiloa Astronomy Center recently added new effects to set the mood for an incredible journey of discovery. As guests enter the exhibit hall, the mist of Maunakea will greet them before stepping into a realm of contemplation, the Piko ī Theater. The Beach and Kings’ Courses located at the Waikoloa Beach Resort have released a new free mobile app designed to help navigate both courses with ease. Captain Zodiac’s famous Whale Watch Adventure will begin in December.  Unlike other whale watching excursions, a Zodiac tour offers small group sizes so every passenger gets a front row seat. The Zodiac’s small and compact size also allows for quicker transportation to the action and up close encounters with the 40-ton marine mammals.
