Eat what you harvest this Thanksgiving at KapohoKine Adventures’ first-ever Thanksgiving Nohona Hawaii special event. Guests will harvest kalo (taro) from KapohoKine Adventures’ mala (garden) along with other canoe plants and traditional vegetables. They will also learn how to prepare kalo for planting, harvesting and cooking. After a cooking demonstration, guests will enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner incorporating several of the ingredients harvested. Thanksgiving Nohona Hawaii will be held on Thanksgiving Day (November 24), from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and is $499 per person, plus tax. Event attendance will be limited to 10 participants. Join the Courtyard King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel for the 28th Annual Christmas with the Chefs culinary event, happening on December 3. Guests will gather in the evening at the hotel’s luau grounds overlooking Kamakahonu Bay to enjoy tantalizing dishes by more than 20 Hawai‘i chefs, along with live music and a silent auction. Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows will celebrate its 23rd annual Charity Trees at Mauna Lani holiday season display from December 2-28. Visitors will find the hotel’s lobby filled with colorfully adorned trees decorated by local non-profit organizations. A $1 donation allows visitors a single vote for their favorite tree. The hotel will award $3,500 in prizes to the winners, with monies raised from voting donations shared among the remaining organizations. The Volcano Village Artists Hui will host its 30th annual Art Studio Tour and Sale over Thanksgiving weekend, from November 25-27. Visitors will have an opportunity to meet artists in their studios and view artwork covering a wide spectrum of media, including hand-blown art glass, wood and metal sculpture, pottery, jewelry, fiber art, paintings, prints, photography and more. A special drawing for artworks contributed by each artist will be held at the end of the sale.
