On Friday, October 4, the Hilton Waikoloa Village will host Mealani’s Taste of the Hawaiian Range from 6-8 p.m. This popular agricultural festival showcases Hawaii Island’s grass-fed beef and a bounty of locally produced foods. Approximately 35 chefs will prepare delectable dishes using all the cuts of beef, plus pork, lamb, goat, mutton and boar. In honor of Kona’s coffee heritage, the Kona Coffee Living History Farm will be hosting an open house called, “A Day at the Kona Coffee Living History Farm.” This free event will be held on Saturday, October 5 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Festivities include many coffee-related activities such as traditional food, a farmer’s market, children’s games, coffee tasting, “Talk Story” sessions, and tours! Kings’ Shops on the Kohala Coast will provide a safe venue for trick-or-treating on Thursday, October 31, from 5-6 p.m. The first 100 children to arrive during the designated time will receive a trick-or-treat bag with candy provided by Kings’ Shops. Then at 6 p.m., the Great Barusky magician will perform “Tricks N’ Treats,” a magic show, followed by a costume contest. Imiloa Astronomy Center is hosting an international line-up of 25 digital planetarium films to be viewed at the Imiloa Fulldome Film Festival from September 5-7, 2013. This visual buffet showcases a variety of production types including computer-generated imagery, time-lapse photography, and full-dome videography. During festival days there will be a new planetarium show viewing every hour from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. There are shows for all ages during the three-day film festival. Mauna Kea Beach Hotel is hosting the first Hawaii Cochon555 event, Cochon Island, on Saturday, September 21. Celebrating its fifth anniversary of the Cochon U.S. Tour, this one-of-a-kind traveling tasting event was created to raise awareness and promote sustainable farming of heritage breed pigs.
