Gathering in downtown Hilo to celebrate LGBT diversity, Hawaii Island Pride will be held on July 12th, 2014. The parade takes a route through the streets of Hilo Bayfront from 11 a.m. to noon, with a colorful festival to follow in Mooheau County Park. The Hilo Bandstand will host live entertainment including a men’s chorus, rock band folk singers, and drag kings and queens. The festivities will also include a separate DJ-powered dance tent. On September 20, guests are invited to experience one of the richest habitats in the state by joining a 3.5-mile “Fern Lovers’ Hike” through Puu Makaala natural area reserve in the Volcano area.
